About the Client: State Compensation Insurance Fund is a self-supporting, non-profit enterprise that provides workers compensation insurance to California employers at cost with no financial obligation to the public. It is the largest workers’ compensation insurer in the State of California.

Project Description: The project includes a 15,000 sf data center designed to be modular and scalable up to an ultimate load of 120W/sf with a Day 1 build-out of 60W/sf. The scalable feature allowed State Fund to lease half of the space to the State of California, The data center was designed for 2(N+1) electrical and N+1 mechanical infrastructure to meet The Uptime Institute Tier III classification.

Nova Partners’ Role: Nova Partners was engaged as the development and construction manager, managing the site acquisition, entitlements, and city incentive negotiations, in addition to providing design and construction management for the entire campus project. Also, Nova was the construction manager to complete the data center expansion for the State of California, and negotiated the $23M eight-year lease.
