Adobe

About This Project

Location: San Francisco, California

About the client: Adobe Systems Incorporated is a multinational computer software company. The company is headquartered in San Jose, California, United States. Adobe has historically focused upon the creation of multimedia and creativity software. It is best known for Photoshop,  Acrobat Reader, the Portable Document Format (PDF) and Adobe Creative Suite, as well as its successor Adobe Creative Cloud.

About the Project: Adobe’s renovation of the historic Baker and Hamilton building in San Francisco was recently completed by Nova. The renovation included completely demolishing the existing café and kitchen serving all of the employees in the building, and rebuilding a new state of the art kitchen with updated café. A part of the kitchen work included substantial upgrades in the basement of the building which required a retrofit to the existing slab on grade to install new refrigerator and freezer units.

The project also included miscellaneous interior upgrades and retrofits to the adjacent office spaces; constructing new conference rooms and building a new wellness center.  The wellness center contains state of the art equipment and lighting with brand new restrooms and showers, as well as a new group exercise room for various yoga and spin cycle classes.

Nova Partners’ Role: Nova’s role on the project included driving the final design to fit within the Adobe project budget which required phasing the project so that the construction could take place while minimizing the effects on the employees within the building. As Nova managed the architect, general contractor, and sub-consultant selection processes and ensured that each member focused on Adobe’s core values and functionality needs while providing a premium aesthetic.
