About the project: Nova Partners managed the design and buildout of the tenant improvement for this growing life science company in a first generation space in a new tower in Emeryville, CA. This project is comprised of both lab and office functions for the development of immunotherapies. The project spans 2 floors and includes a new interconnecting stair. Enhanced coordination took place to ensure the technical aspects of the lab and equipment were captured accurately.
Due to the aggressive schedule and budget challenges, Nova took a unique approach to the way meetings, decisions and coordination was led. This proactive approach included early and ongoing value engineering with subcontractors engaged early to assist with decision making and risks. The increased frequency of strategically focused meetings carved the way for a compressed design schedule which still allowed for the development of new standards for Dynavax (both on the lab and office side).
