About the client: Exelixis is an established pharmaceutical firm that specializes in the treatment of cancer. They leased new facilities in the Waterfront Park located in Alameda.

Exelixis migrated their current world headquarters from South San Francisco to Alameda in the spring of 2018. The new facility consists of three existing building. Two of the buildings will are stand alone while the third is a multi tenant space.

Building 1851 is the administrative center of the campus and will be 60,000 SF of office space. Adjacent to 1851, building 1801 will be 30,000 SF office and 30,000 SF laboratory space. A new freight elevator will be installed in the laboratory facility as well as dedicated Biology and Chemistry Laboratory spaces on level 2. Other features include a Vivarium, Robotic Compound Repository, and Chemical Bunker. Both stand alone buildings will receive entirely new Mechanical Systems throughout. Building 1751 will be a multi tenant building with office TI.

All new site work and landscaping will surround the campus. Included is a new patio/meeting area that serves as an extension of the indoor All Hands space.

Nova Partners’ Role: Nova was engaged in parallel with the design team to begin initial concept, test fits and programming. We then progressed into GC and other ancillary vendor selections. As the owner’s project manager, Nova was responsible for all vendor cost and schedule manager through construction and closeout.
