About the Client: Founded in San Francisco in 1896 as the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry is committed to providing a student-centered educational program and the highest quality oral health care in the Bay Area.

Project Description: Nova Partners was the project manager to renovate this 385,000 SF space.  The building includes 7 stories plus below-grade parking and storage.  The project required an entire interior hazardous material abatement and  demolition, as well as a complete exterior envelope removal and replacement.

The building houses multiple groups and provides multiple functions.  The basement serves as the central  area for instrument sterilization and distribution.  The 1st floor is the main gathering area for students, patients and staff, and includes food service, medical gas storage, and lecture halls.  The 2nd and 3rd floors house the dental clinics for 2nd and 3rd year students and include over 200 dental chairs, and surgery suites.  The 4th floor is the office space and research labs for staff and the 5th floor is the student research lab which features 180 dental simulation stations.  Floors 6 and 7 are built out for future tenants.

Nova Partners’ Role: Entitlement and permit coordination with the City of San Francisco, RFP preparation, bid evaluation, budget and schedule management, user and designer coordination, and management of multiple disciplines including design team, general contractor, and specialty vendors such as $5M state of the art AV system, $8M dental equipment, and the $600,000 signage scope.
