About the Client: The County of Monterey is located on the Pacific coast of California, its northwestern section forming the southern half of Monterey Bay. The county seat is Salinas.

Project Description: This $78M project includes a phased renovation of the north wing of the Courthouse, which is 95,600 square feet; a phased renovation — including seismic upgrades — of the east and west wings of the Courthouse, totaling 70,000 square feet; and the construction of a new County Administration Building of approximately 137,000 square feet.

Special Features and Challenges: The project challenges include a tight budget, complicated phasing issues to keep county functions in operation during construction, and balancing local interests with project goals.

Nova Partners’ Role: Nova Partners was engaged to provide overall project construction management oversight, including but not limited to the preparation of project schedules, cost estimating services, and contract administration.
