Edison Mission Group

About This Project

Location: Amarillo, Texas

Contractors: M. A. Mortenson, Inc.

About the Client: Headquartered in Irvine, California, Edison Mission Group manages the competitive power generation business of Edison International, an electric power generator and distributor, and an investor in infrastructure and renewable energy projects with assets totaling more than $36 billion.

Project Description: The Wildorado Wind Ranch includes 70 Siemens 2.3 megawatt turbines spread over 16,000 acres approximately 25 miles west of Amarillo, Texas. Wildorado is the largest wind energy facility in the Texas Panhandle region and the largest in the Edison Mission Group’s portfolio of 14 wind projects in five states. It provides enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 48,000 homes.

Nova Partners’ Role: At Wildorado, Nova’s direct client, Rosendin Electric, held a design-build contract for the entire collection system, the substation, and high-voltage overhead transmission lines. Nova traveled to the jobsite on three strategically timed occasions and stayed closely in touch with Rosendin’s construction team throughout the construction period. Nova assured that the as-built records, which become part of the permanent plant documentation, were checked and rechecked before turning over to the owner.
